i-Sense Monitor Group Types

Control-Sharing Groups
Control-sharing groups are used to control access to monitors and other monitor groups. When you share access to a control-sharing monitor group, you share access to every monitor in the group.
Only your monitors (ones for which are administrator) can be made members of a control-sharing group, as otherwise you could use the group to share more privilege than you had been granted.

Data-Sharing Groups
Data-sharing groups are used to group monitors, and other monitor groups, together for analysis of power quality data. Any who can see a data-sharing group can use it as a selector for power quality events; any event from a monitor in the group will be selected when the group selector is used to view i-Sense data.
Any monitor you have access to can be made a member of a data-sharing group because sharing a data-sharing group does not share access to the monitors in that group. When you share a data-sharing group, the users you share it with can use the definition of the group to select data for monitors in the group, but only for monitors for which they have independantly been granted viewing rights. Sharing the group does not change any permission for the monitors in the group.
